  • Yesterday students worked on creating an integer clock - The lesson attached below
  • We are doing a SNAP assessment on Monday and a Quiz on BEDMAS with Integers and integers with decimals.

  • We are starting our Fossil unit - Ch 7.4 in our textbook.  

Feb 12-16th 

Math 

  • We did a Math test focusing on adding and subtracting Integers and Multiplying and dividing integers.

  • We finished up our Element and Compound unit with a test this week. 

Feb 5th - Feb 9th

    • We are finishing up our multiplying and Dividing Integers work (If students are not done the 2 lessons they can finish them up at home.).

    • Students are finishing up their Atomic poster and model in class.  
    • We will watch Bill Nye this week (Atoms and Molecules)- Sheet attached below.
    • We will start to study for a science quiz on Chapters 6.1 and 6.2 in the textbook - Elements and compounds
    • The study guide is attached below.  (students may wish to recite the song periodic table to challenge the quiz.  

Jan 29th - Feb 2nd

  • Activity day on Friday - Castle Fun Park (forms are online). 
  • Math continuing to work on Multiplying and Dividing  Integers - worksheets are attached below.  
  • Science - Finish researching your "Element" and designing your mini poster.  Construct your Atomic model (in class)
    • Meet the Elements song -  worksheet can be downloaded below.  
    • Periodic table song - Students can memorize the song and choose to recite the song instead of writing the final quiz.  Lyrics are attached below.  

JAN 22-26

Last week we did a quiz on adding and subtracting integers.  This week we will do small group math stations.  

Science - Students picked an element to research and are presently building an atomic model to hang up in the class.

Dec 18th -22

  • We have been working on Adding and subtracting Integers.  Students should have Ns7-86-92 handed in already.

  • In Science we are looking at how the warming of the ocean can affect the coral in a documentary called Chasing Coral (found on Netflix).  PDF of Worksheet below.

Dec 4th -8th

We started our Integer unit.  We were working on thinking about integers as gains and losses.  Ns7-86 was due on Monday.  PDF below.  

  • Students have been working on their plant adaptation poster.  Wednesday is the last class time provided for this project.  Students can bring it home or finish it at break and lunch.

  • We had our BEDMAS Test on Monday - Students can come and talk to me to arrange a retest.
  • We Start our new Math Unit Integers on Thursday.

  • We are working on our "Plant Adaptation" poster Project this week in Science.

We are just finishing up our Order of Operations unit.  (Quiz on Monday: 3 step, 6 step and decimals)

Students need to complete the following list of work:

Tuesday, Nov. 21st

  • In science, students are working on creating a fictitious plant with 10 adaptations that can survive in a chosen biome.  They are to design a poster with the plant on it.  Instructions are listed below in a pdf.  
  • Math- We are in the middle of our BEDMAS unit.  We have done the following assignments in order.  
    • Ns7-2 (working with brackets and understanding why we do operations in the order we do them in.)

    • BEDMAS 3 step
    • Bedmas 6-step
      • We have just started our Bedmas with Decimals

Wednesday, Nov 8th

  • Students needed to hand in NS7-2 (Bedmas introduction and why brackets are important)
  • Today we practiced on BEDMAS practice questions.

  • Science Test tomorrow - Students are allowed to bring a "3x4" index card of notes to the test tomorrow.

We played a Kahoot to practice our questions on the test.  The test will be on Thursday.

We have been doing the SNAP (district Math assessment) and FSA (Provincial Assessment) for the last several weeks.  So we have not had any homework over the last few weeks.

Wecome back BBQ is this Wednesday - come and meet some teachers and enjoy a hotdog.  

This week we will be going over and learning about the regular routine in our Math class.  We will be doing a pre-assessment of basic computational skills to see the student’s strengths and areas of growth.  There will be no homework this week in Math.  

Science -  This week we will be learning how to read for information in a science textbook while learning important information in science.
