Monday, May 25th,  2020

Reading -  Continue to read for 15 minutes each day.  This week, check out books about animal facts. I have selected some on the Epic website to get you started.

Check out Mr. Walker's new book, "No Pirates Allowed".

Writing - Think about what you learned about an animal that you read about. What is its habitat, favourite foods and life cycle? What are some interesting facts about this animal.

Pick an animal to turn into. Write about your day as that animal.  Write 5 - 8 sentences with capitals and periods and your neatest writing! Draw pictures about your animal.

Math - Complete math worksheets for today. (attached below).

There is a special multiplication challenge sheet. Give it a try!

Reading -  Continue to read for 15 minutes each day.  Today, find a book about a different animal to learn about. I have selected some on the Epic website to get you started.

Writing -  Thinking about a book that you read about animal facts, If you could recommend the book you read about animal facts to someone, who would it be? Why do you think they would like it? Write about why they should read it. 

Math - Complete math worksheets for today. (attached below).

Practice more skills online with IXL Math or Toy Theater.

Science - Think about an animal you like. Perhaps it is the one you were reading about today.

Then, watch this entertaining video about "Carnivores, Omnivores and Herbivores".

Which category does your animal fall into?

Draw pictures of what your animal eats.

Reading -  Continue to read for 15 minutes each day.  Today, read some of the books about dragons on the Epic website.

Check out Mr. Walker's new book, "No Pirates Allowed".

Writing -  Write a story about your imaginary dragon. Here are some ideas to use in your story:

Name your dragon and tell me what it looks like –Think about its size, colour, wings, scales or claws.

Describe your dragon’s personality – is he frightening or friendly?

Describe what your dragon is doing – is he sleeping, flying, breathing fire?

Describe the setting of your story – does he live in a forest or a cave or a castle?

Art -  Watch this video, "How To Draw A Dragon" to create a dragon for your story!

Reading -  Continue to read for 15 minutes each day.  Today, read books and watch videos about recycling on the Epic website. 

Check out Mr. Walker's new book, "No Pirates Allowed". Answer the question about the book today: What was the treasure that Big Pete found? Put your answer on the Rosedale website, under Rise and Shine show. 

Writing -  Imagine a world with no garbage cans! Write about what the world would be like without any garbage cans or recycling bins!

Watch the video, "SciShow KIds: How Does Recycling Work?" on the Epic books website to give you some ideas for your writing!

Reading -  Continue to read for 15 minutes each day.  Today on the Epic website, read the book, "One Plastic Bag" about one girl's idea to clean up and recycle the plastic bags in her area.

Watch this video to see how plastic bags can be made into purses!

Here is another video about making a skipping rope from plastic bags. Give it a try!

Writing -  Summer is a time for relaxing and spending time with family. We have all been spending a lot of time with our families!  Tell me about your plans for this summer. What are some of the things you hope to do?

Bus Registration 2020/2021

Dear Parents/Guardians:

These are challenging times and although schedules have yet to be determined for the 2020/2021 school year, we need to plan as if schools will open as usual following summer break.

This is to inform you that bus registration for the September 2020/2021 school year will open Monday, May 4th, 2020.

Integrated Arts and Technology K - 12 Program

The Chilliwack School District is pleased to offer an Integrated Arts and Technology opportunity at AD Rundle Middle School beginning September 2020 for students in grades 6 - 8. An integrated arts and technology approach encourages curiosity, open-mindedness, and a willingness to think “outside the box” within an interdisciplinary, collaborative learning environment. This cohort precedes the opening of the new Integrated Arts and Technology Secondary School (September 2021).
