Welcome

Dear Raven Families:

As we head into our new school year, we trust that you had a fun-filled summer and would like to welcome you to the 2023-24 school year.  Beginning a new school year brings about enthusiasm for the “new” possibilities and starting fresh.  Whether it’s new uniforms, new school supplies, a new grade, new classrooms, new teachers, new friends or a new schedule – there are many new pieces to create excitement for a new school year.

This year we have many new students joining our Raven family.  We would like to take some time to extend a warm welcome to all of the new Ravens joining us, in particular our Kindergarten students who are beginning their school and RTCS journey.   Please note our Kindergarten students will join us for their first Mini Session on September 8. The gradual entry program will begin on September 11.  The first full day will be on September 18. Families will be contacted about their interview time.

The first day of school for our Grade 1 through to Grade 8 students will be Tuesday, September 5th from 8:09 – 10:09 a.m.  Busses will be running 4 hours earlier than usual.  Students will spend the first day reconnecting and learning about Rosedale Traditional Community School procedures and routines.

·  Elementary students will report to their last year’s teacher.  New registrants will go to Mrs. Jones’ (308)     classroom.  For the remainder of the week, students in Grades 1-5 will be rotating in grade level activities until we have class lists finalized.

· Middle School students will go to their homeroom.  Grade 6 lists will be posted by the Back Door of the Lobby.  Grade 7 lists will be posted by the Art Room Window.  Grade 8 lists will be posted by the Shop.

The first day of school represents a regular day of instruction and therefore we will all be wearing our school uniform.  If you need to order new clothing please do so online through our uniform supplier at: https://sapphirecreative.com/product-category/rosedale-traditional/

When you have some time, please take a moment to review with your student our RTCS Code of Citizenship.  In particular the sections involving dress code and electronic devices.

Communication between home and school is vitally important. Please check our website, for information regarding the school calendar, bell schedule, school activities, and athletic events.  You can also stay connected by “liking us” on Facebook.

Enjoy the remaining days of your summer holiday.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a few days.

Sincerely,

Ms. Jaimee Charlie, Vice-Principal,
Rosedale Traditional Community School
